13 months old today

And she just had her first hair cut. It was just a trimming of her
bangs, by Mommy. Per Grandmom's request. Thanks, Gran! Now the hair
is out of her eyes so she can see her books more easily. She's
becoming more interested in books.

Happy birthday Uncle Jason

Bob, Jen and Juni went out to a nice restaurant called Jason's last
night in honor of Juni's Uncle Jason and his upcoming birthday. She
has been "screamy" lately, so we were taking a chance that she would
be happy there. And she was! It helped that we all worked at keeping
her entertained and it was a lovely dinner.

It may be a holiday...

but there is a lot of work to do around the yard, like eating rocks.

Cougar on the trail!

Someone on the trail at China Camp heard our little animal complaining
from a distant and said "I thought she was a cougar". Her cougar cries
ceased when we let her walk the trail (with a little help from mommy,
of course).

Los Tres!

You Turkey!

recon.

Happy Mother's Day!

Daddy took Juni on a walk this morning and instructed me to practice yoga while they were out. I did and it was good and nurturing. I am still healing from a cold, so I took it easy today. We did a lot of chores around the house and our new home is set up really nicely now. We are ready for guests!

Last night she took her first step without holding on to anything. She was in the living room, "furtniture walking" and holding onto the sofa chair, then she turned to move toward the couch across the way and took a step but then lost balance and sat down instead. I got really excited about it and she looked at me wondering what my fuss was about. Then today, twice we saw her standing steady without holding on to anything. She was in her playpen and holding onto a toy with both hands. It was brief and she returned one hand to hold on to the rim of the playpen again. We can see that it might not be long before she walks...

Enjoying our back yard

Juniper plays independently for a good while these days. Here she is set up in our back yard, where she crawled around, and picked up leaves and put them on the chair or handed them to me if I was close by. She is getting better about not putting things in her mouth that isn't food.

Ready for a walk

Is it just me, or is this little girl adorable? Here she is just before we went on a walk with her stroller. We met another girl her age who lives two blocks away! (The same baby that Grammy and Grandpa and Daddy met in the park the week before we moved in.) We made plans for a playdate when we feel better. Now all the Ws have colds. Some fresh air was good for our stuffy heads, and we even ran a few errands in downtown San Rafael.

Juniper helps me to dress/undress her. I noticed in the last week or to that when I bring her jacket towards her, she reaches her arms for the sleeves, one at a time like a big girl. Now today she even used her hands to help lift her shirt over her head when I was changing her shirt. So cute!

Dinner time in her new-to-us high chair

Playpen

Juniper has been happy playing in the playard in the kitchen lately.
She likes to take her socks off, too. Hasn't figured out how to put
the socks back on but she tries for several minutes before tossing
them aside.

Not-so-cozy in the backseat

Here we are on our way home from buying a highchair from a family in Petaluma. It was a tight fit for me, Juni and the chair in the backseat, but we made it home safely.

2nd nap in new bed

Twin mattress on a futon frame so it is very low and close to the floor. The side rail is in place and she has organic cotton sheets. Lucky girl!

First nap in her own bed!

Shhhhhhhh!
