Family adventures 3/18/12

We were adventurous last Sunday 3/18/12.  We drove to Alamo, CA (near Walnut Creek) to visit friends who were in town from Germany.  Then we drove up to Davis, CA (near Sacramento) to visit family who just moved into house up there.  The kids were pretty good travelers, and so were the parents.  It was a lovely time.  Joey's baby acne is clearing up, we are getting a handle on life with two little ones, and we are busy scheduling dates with all of the admirers who want to meet baby Joey.  A lot of love is around us.  All is well.

Gymnastic Juni 3/17/11

Juniper was invited to the birthday party of a former classmate from the Montessori pre-pre-school she used to attend.  The birthday party was held at this gym in Novato, CA.  The kids were invited to play at the gym for a couple hours, with a break for pizza and cake.  It was a lot of fun.  Joey was there, too, as well as Bob and I.  It was so generous of the birthday girl's parents to invite all the kiddos to play in this gym.  The goodie bag/bucket that Juni went home with was very generous, too.  Juniper had this pink headband on with a bow on it, but it ended up as Daddy's bow tie.

Daddy & Joey 3/16/12

Mommy, can I hold Joey?

It warms my heart when she asks to hold her little brother and to see her enjoy his every movement.

Juni buckles up

Juniper buckled her car seat all by herself today! Usually she needs help with the bottom part. Also, she has had fun pretending to be a pig lately. She made a pig nose and ears at preschool this week. This is how she greeted me when I picked her up today.

Bigger clothes

Today I dressed Joey in the next clothing size: 0 to 3 months. I love this cute dinosaur outfit. Our boy is growing! He's 6 weeks old now.

Little peanut

Discovery Museum

On Sunday we went to the Discovery Museum in Sausalito for the birthday party of a friend/classmate of Juni's. Joey stayed at home with Gran Gran while Mommy and Daddy went with Juni to the party. I made blueberry banana muffins and brought them to the party for us to eat while the birthday cake was served, since we are allergic to milk and eggs. There's a photo of Juni eating her muffin. She is very good about understanding that she can't eat certain foods. She always asks "does that have eggs in it?". It was my first time away from Joey for that long (3 1/2 hours). I pumped before I left and he drank from a bottle while we were gone. Success!

Rearranged

With a lot of help from Gran Gran, I rearranged things in our home today so that now we have a changing table! Previously we were putting the changing pad on our bed or in the co-sleeper bassinet, but we had one too many accidents on our bedding and his. Today I decided I had to create one diaper changing area that was not also a place to sleep. We had these plastic drawers in Juni's room, so I swapped some of them with a short little dresser from Mommy & Daddy's room. The plastic drawers as you see them in the photo make the perfect height for changing diapers. Yay! Success! While we were at it, we also moved our bed so that the head board is against a different wall (and no longer against a window). The changing table is in our bedroom, next to the door and close to the foot of our bed. It is also close to Joey's co-sleeper bassinet, so there's not far to go for middle-of-the-night diaper changes.

Here's a picture of Joey sleeping in the new set-up. You can see why we sometimes call him a little peanut.
